Key features of the National Health Reform Agreement


Key features of the National Health Reform Agreement include:

  • Improving patient access to services and public hospital efficiency through the use of activity based funding based on a national efficient price;
  • increased Commonwealth share of public hospital funding through an increased contribution to the costs of growth from 2014-15;
  • greater transparency in public hospital funding through a National Health Funding Pool;
  • improved standards of clinical care, performance reporting and accountability;
  • improved performance transparency through the establishment of the National Health Performance Authority to report on Tasmanian Health Organisation performance (the name being given to Tasmanian Local Hospital Networks);
  • improved local accountability and responsiveness to needs of communities through the establishment of Tasmanian Health Organisations;
  • improved the provision of GP and primary health care services through the establishment of Medicare Locals;
  • improved aged care and disability services.
