Careers in Tasmania
Tasmanian Rural Generalist Pathways
Doctors with Rural Generalist (RG) qualifications are highly sought after across Tasmania.
Opportunities include working in:
- Remote communities where doctors require additional critical care skills such as Antarctica and the Bass Strait islands.
- Larger rural communities with hospital facilities such as Queenstown, Scottsdale and St Helens.
- Larger hospitals needing "broad scope" RG doctors who have good general practice skills as a foundation to complement their hospital specialty skill such as emergency departments in the North West.
- Private hospitals with emergency departments and/or 'in-house' medical officers.
- Specialised skills in community practice such as working in mental health or palliative care services.
