Speech pathology services – South

Inpatient services 

We provide regular inpatient services to the Royal Hobart Hospital (ED, acute, subacute, paediatric), New Norfolk District Hospital and Jasmine Unit as well as to Midlands Multi-purpose Health Centre and interim care beds, on request. Referrals are received through Patient Flow Manager. 

Outpatient services  

Speech Pathologists work within multi-disciplinary teams in the following RHH-based clinics: 

• Burns 
• Cleft Lip and Palate 
• Dysphagia  
• Early development 
• Head and Neck  
• Holman 
• Paediatric feeding 
• Voice  

We also provide speech pathology (single discipline) outpatient services in the areas of voice, laryngectomy, paediatric feeding and cleft palate. Our services are publicly funded and are free of charge. 

Services for children 

In Southern Tasmania, publicly funded therapy services for children are provided through St Giles and the Department of Education, or privately with NDIS funding. Children with significant feeding needs may be referred to our service by their paediatrician, child health nurse, or other health care professional. 

Community Services 

We provide publicly funded speech pathology services to adults with communication and swallowing needs at the following community health centres: 

• Clarence 
• Glenorchy 
• Huonville 
• Kingston 
• New Norfolk 
• Sorell 

Referrals are accepted from GPs, other health professionals, or directly from clients.  

We provide services to clients of the Commonwealth Home Support Program who require additional support to remain at home. Referrals are accepted via the My Aged Care portal LINK https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/ 

We are not NDIS service providers and do not provide services to recipients of level 3 or 4 Commonwealth Support Packages. 

Rehabilitation services 

Outpatient and community rehabilitation services are provided by the Community Rehabilitation Unit
