18 November 2021There are several scholarship opportunities for healthcare professionals to work with us in Tasmania.
Allied Health Scholarship Program
The Allied Health Scholarship Program was announced by the Premier of Tasmania in February 2023 to support the recruitment and retention of ten allied health professions in the Department of Health. The Allied Health Scholarship Program aims to help final year students coming home, moving to, or staying in, Tasmania to commence their career after graduating.
The Allied Health Scholarship Program provides up to $25,000 to support the costs associated with studying an accredited program of study.

Australian Nurses Memorial Centre
The Australian Nurses Memorial Centre is proud to offer scholarships for nurses and midwives. Scholarship applications are open every year from 1st July to 31st August. Find out more on the Australian Nurses Memorial website or email [email protected].
Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarship
The Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarship is available to Tasmanian Aboriginal students enrolled or intending to enrol in a health or human services related entry level or graduate entry level course.
Please note:
- courses must be provided by an Australian registered training organisation or university
- funding is not available for postgraduate study (including honours), except for an accredited entry to practice postgraduate course.
2024 Scholarships
Applications for the 2024 Ida West Aboriginal Health Scholarships open on Saturday, 25 November 2023, and close Friday, 23 February 2024.

Tasmanian Mental Health Peer Work Scholarship Program
Applications for the CHC43515 Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work Scholarship Program 2023 have now closed.
Scholarships are planned for 2024. We'll provide more information on the 2024 program and application process closer to the time.

Tasmanian Rural Generalist Scholarship
Four Tasmanian Rural Generalist Scholarships are awarded University of Tasmania medical graduates to This scholarship supports career pathways to rural generalist practice in Tasmania.
- Preference is given to Rural Clinical School and the Launceston Clinical School graduates planning to complete their internship at North West Regional Hospital or Launceston General Hospital.
- They also help us attract, employ and retain medical graduates in rural and regional health services.
