Lifeline Hobart Inc.

Lifeline Hobart offers the community a range of services, including telephone counselling, visiting programs and victims of crime service. Lifeline Hobart also conducts volunteer telephone counsellor and suicide intervention training and operates two retail outlets.

Services offered by Lifeline Hobart include:

  • Telephone counselling, information and referral line. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 13 11 14.
  • Community Visitors Scheme. This scheme matches volunteers with residents in aged care facilities.
  • CHATS Visiting Program. This program offers older people in the community social support and activities.
  • Victims of Crime Service. This service provides a short-term counselling, advocacy and referral service for those who have been affected by a crime. Phone 1300 300 238.
  • Telephone Counsellor Training Service. Conducted twice yearly starting in early February and July. Phone: 6224 3450

  • Second hand retail outlets. Outlets operate in Hobart (phone: 6231 1882) and Kingston (phone: 6229 1319).

Service Eligibility

  • Telephone Counselling is available as a 24hr service to anyone, anywhere, anytime by calling 13 11 14.
  • Community Visitors Scheme is provided for residents in aged care facilities as requested by the facility only. Refferal necessary.
  • CHATS Program is available to older, isolated and lonely people who reside in the community in their own homes. Self referral - HACC target group
  • Victims of Crime Service is available short-term to everyone who has been affected by a crime. Self referral.
  • Telephone Counsellor Training. Self referral.
  • Suicide Prevention, Education andTraining. Self referral.
  • Second hand retail outlets. All welcome.

Cost Information

  • Telephone Service 13 11 14 - cost of a local call nationwide.
  • Community Visitors Scheme – no charge.
  • CHATS Program Monday to Friday - no charge for service but costs for individual activities vary for those participating.
  • Victims of Crime Service - no charge.
