The Department of Health is committed to ensuring patients in Tasmania can receive the right health care, in the right place, at the right time.
This includes a commitment to increase transparency to better inform patient choices, and to help drive accountability and facilitate improvements across the Tasmanian health system.
A range of new performance data will now be published daily on the Department of Health’s website.
The Department of Health will commence daily publication of information outlining the percentage of ambulance incidents transferred to hospital staff within 60 minutes of arrival across all our major hospitals.
The Transfer of Care protocol commenced in April 2024, which now guides paramedics and hospital staff to ensure more Tasmanian patients are transferred to the care of hospital staff in a more timely fashion.
Data will also be published daily outlining extensive information on Emergency Department presentations, including a breakdown by hospital and triage category. This information will also include the number of admissions occurring each day, and how long patients requiring admission take to depart the Emergency Department, including a break-down of patients departing within 4, 8 and 12 hours.
Publishing this data on a daily basis will help drive accountability in Tasmania’s public hospitals and demonstrate how the Department is addressing patient access and flow challenges.
