Hobart’s second Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) – and the third in Tasmania – will open to patients next week.
Operated by Ochre Health, the Ochre Hobart Medicare UCC will start seeing patients from Monday 30 October 2023.
Located at 242 Liverpool Street in Hobart CBD, the clinic will be open seven days a week from 12pm to 8pm, and offer walk-in care that is fully bulk billed.
Medicare UCCs provide care for people who need to see a medical professional for a health issue that is urgent and requires treatment, but does not require presentation to a hospital emergency department (ED).
Opening of Ochre Hobart Medicare UCC will make it easier for people in Hobart to get treatment for urgent health needs, while taking pressure off the Royal Hobart Hospital ED.
It is the third to open in Tasmania following establishment of Launceston Medical Centre’s Medicare UCC in July and Your Hobart Doctor’s Medicare UCC in August.
A fourth Medicare UCC is expected to open in Devonport before the end of this year.
Medicare UCCs are jointly funded by the Australian Government and Tasmanian Government.
