On more than 55,000 occasions last year, Tasmanian patients did not attend their public outpatient medical appointment, increasing waiting lists and meaning we all needlessly wait longer to see specialist doctors.
Following the success of the Did Not Attend Campaign (January – March) which delivered the lowest rate of missed appointments since COVID-19, the Department of Health is relaunching the campaign to drive down the number of missed appointments.
With the central theme, if you can’t make it, let someone else take it, the campaign aims to reduce the number of public outpatient medical appointments missed, and importantly, encourage patients to let the Department of Health know if they cannot attend, so they can organise for someone else to see the clinician.
The goal of the campaign is to reduce waiting lists and ensure Tasmanians across the state can receive the specialised medical care they need sooner.
