Devonport Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) is expected to start seeing patients on 11 December 2023, with Devonport's My Clinic Plus confirmed as the provider.
The Medicare UCC will make it easier for people in Tasmania to get the urgent treatment they need – from highly qualified doctors and nurses – while taking pressure off the Mersey Community Hospital.
It will be open for extended hours 7 days a week and offer walk-in care that is fully bulk billed.
Devonport Medicare UCC will join three clinics already operational in Tasmania, with two in Hobart and one in Launceston.
Medicare UCCs provide care for people who need to see a medical professional for a health issue that is urgent and requires treatment, but does not require presentation to a hospital emergency department (ED).
Medicare UCCs are jointly funded by the Australian Government and Tasmanian Government.
