The Commission of Inquiry into the Tasmanian Government’s Responses to Child Sexual Abuse in Institutional Settings has released its findings.
The stories in the Commission of Inquiry have been harrowing and we apologise to all those who have been impacted by child sexual abuse, who expected – and deserved – more from us.
We are committed to keeping children safe and well and ensuring that children and young people in our care feel safe and supported.
It is vital we learn from our past failures and put every possible safeguard in place to ensure this can never happen again. All children have a fundamental right to be safe in our care and it is our responsibility to ensure they are.
We are committed to doing better and ensuring the safety of children and young people every day in our care.
We are strengthening our systems, policies and governance, training our staff and volunteers, and building awareness in the community so that we can protect present and future generations.
Everyone has the right to feel safe in our care.
It is always ok to speak up and we are listening.
