Alcohol
The only alcohol permitted within the hospital grounds is medically prescribed alcohol and will be supplied by the hospital.
Banking
A Redi-Teller is situated on Level 3 adjacent to the Red Cross shop to access funds.
Cafeteria
The LGH cafeteria serves both hot and cold meals for lunch and dinner. Opening hours are

Tea and coffee making facilities are available in the cafeteria.
Children as Visitors
Children are welcome in most areas of the hospital except the Day Surgery Unit. Please ensure they do not disturb other patients.
Kiosk
The hospital auxiliary manages the kiosk which is located on Level 3 near the main entrance. A variety of hot and cold food, drinks, sweets and toiletry items are available. The kiosk is staffed by volunteers and all profits go to purchasing hospital equipment and providing patient amenities. Opening hours:

Mobile Phones
Mobile phones can be used within the hospital however there are areas where equipment, and therefore patient care, would be affected by their use. These areas are clearly marked and include the Intensive and Cardiac Care Unit and the Renal Unit.
Noise
The staff attempt to keep noise to an acceptable level, and ask that patients and their visitors, attempt to do the same during their time at the LGH.
Smoking
The LGH is a declared smoke-free environment under the Public Health Act. This means that smoking is prohibited in all parts of the Hospital and its grounds. Smoking actively interferes with many medical treatments, and patients who continues to smoke tend to stay in hospital longer and have more complications. For this reason, patients and visitors are encourages to leave tobacco products at home to support the Hospital in providing better care to all.
Telephones
Public telephones are located in the hospital's main foyer - level 3, QVMU - Level 4 Corridor, ICU - Level 5 Corridor. Phone cards can be purchased at the Kiosk situated on level 3 near the main foyer - $5 and $10 cards are available. Portable gold phones are available on some wards on request.
