Advocacy Tasmania Inc. (AdvoTas) is an independent, non-government organisation that provides free, confidential, State-wide individual 'Your Say' advocacy services to:

  • People with disabilities
  • People with mental health issues
  • People with drug and alcohol issues
  • Older people, particularly those living in residential aged care or receiving home and community care.

AdvoTas individual advocacy is issue based, which means that it assists people to resolve their particular issue then closes the matter. It does not have permanent clients, though eligible people are entitled to use the service whenever they need to for matters that are in scope.

Service Eligibility

AdvoTas recognises that some issues are so fundamentally critical to a person's quality of life that assistance will be provided when those rights are at stake. The four fundamental rights which are in-scope are:

  • the right to fundamental health and wellbeing as it relates to the receipt of good quality aged care, home care, disability, mental health and ATOD services
  • the right to be safe from harm and protected from abuse and neglect
  • the right to shelter
  • the right to freedom and personal liberty.

Cost information

AdvoTas services are free-of-charge.

Monday to Friday- 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, excluding public holidays.
