Maternity care and Gynaecology

THS-South Women's and Children's Services offer antenatal and gynaecology clinics through the Outpatient Departments.

Services consist of:

  • Antenatal Clinic - This Clinic is for women who have diverse pregnancy needs and require specialised medical care. You may need to be cared for by a doctor and midwives throughout your pregnancy.
  • Antenatal Endocrine Clinic - Multidisciplinary clinic consisting of Obstetrician, Midwife, Endocrinologist, Diabetes Nurse Educators and Dietician for pregnant women with Diabetes or other related Endocrine disorders.
  • Colposcopy Clinic - For investigation, treatment and management of abnormal pap smear results.
  • Gynaecology Clinic - Providing consultation for women with gynaecological conditions.
  • Gynaecology Oncology - Management and treatment for women with or suspected of gynaecological cancer
  • Know your midwife (KYM) - Antenatal care is provided by a team of KYM midwives.
  • Midwifery group practice (MGP) - Cared for by a primary (or back-up) midwife for your pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal needs.  This model of care promotes and supports normal birth and includes a shorter hospital stay with extended home based postnatal care.
  • Midwifery led Clinic - For low risk pregnancies, providing women with a holistic focus to issues relating to pregnancy.
  • Satellite Clinics - are available in three community settings: Clarence, Glenorchy, Kingston, providing opportunities for care for women in their own community.
  • Young Mums' Clinic - Midwifery led clinic for pregnant women under 19 years.
