Communication and Health Literacy

The Health Literacy Network is made up of people from services and communities across Tasmania that undertake a range of activities to help make it easier for people to connect, find, use, understand and act on information and services.


Are you interested in joining our health literacy working group
as our consumer representative?


We are looking for a minimum of two community members to be a part of our health literacy network-working group for the next 12 - 18 months.

Purpose

Community members will provide:

  • a consumer and community perspective on topics and activities
  • work with network partners
  • help share with the community information and activities that are happening
  • feedback and guidance on issues
  • help with planning and evaluation of the networks work.

Key duties

  • Gather ideas and experiences from your networks to share with the health literacy network
  • Attend meetings (this could be face to face or via the phone every 4-6 weeks)
  • Take part in activities of the working group
  • Give advice and expertise (know how) about consumers and community priorities – find out what is important
  • Link us to community networks.

Support

Community members will be:

  • reimbursed or provided with vouchers for any out of pocket expenses to do with attending any training or meeting (eg travel accommodation, registration)
  • provided with basic health literacy training
  • supported by a mentor
  • supported and given access to learn skills if needed, eg computer.
