Construction works on a section of the Royal Hobart Hospital will lead to temporary changes for traffic and pedestrians on Liverpool Street, between Campbell and Argyle Streets in Hobart over the coming week.
Liverpool Street between Campbell and Argyle Streets will be closed to all general traffic each night from 6:00 pm until 6:00 am starting on Monday, 16 September until the morning of Tuesday, 24 September 2024.
Emergency vehicles and the public will continue to have access to the RHH Emergency Department with traffic controllers being present at the corner of Liverpool and Campbell Streets to assist.
Detours will be in place for general traffic and traffic controllers will be present at both the Campbell Street and Argyle Street ends to direct pedestrian traffic (including staff).
Pedestrian access to the main entrance of the hospital will be available along the northern side of Liverpool Street, and traffic controllers will assist with access to the hospital via a temporary crossing established each night.
Vehicles will not be able to access the Liverpool Street main Hospital entrance during the closures.
The work is being completed at night to minimise impacts on the public, and there will be no changes to traffic or pedestrian access during the days.
We thank the community for their patience while we complete these essential works.
The temporary closures are necessary to allow for delivery of large roofing components, and cranes will be used throughout the nights to complete the required works.
