Sharni Siely, a midwife and manager of our nursing and midwifery staff in the North West, shares her passion for the profession:
“Midwifery is a celebration of women. To be a midwife means being with women at the most vulnerable times in their lives, and to actually be there and support them. It’s such a big thing for me.
“There’s a real sense of family here in Tasmania. The other midwives I work with are just an amazing, supportive, really beautiful bunch of women. We care about what happens to each other, both at work and outside of work. That kind of collegiality is really important to us."
