Human Services Statistics

The Human Services Dashboard provides headline indicators and supporting statistics, including those previously presented in the Your Human Services Progress Chart. Our aim is to provide transparent and timely information on the Human Services system to ensure accountability and openness.

The introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has seen the responsibility for delivering specialist disability services to Tasmanians shift from the Tasmanian Government to the NDIS. The NDIS ensures that all eligible Australians under the age of 65 years who have a permanent and significant disability can get the reasonable and necessary supports they need. NDIS Quarterly Reports provide information (including statistics) about participants and the funding or provision of supports by the NDIA in each jurisdiction.

Information on the NDIS in Tasmania can be found at this link in Quarterly reports: https://www.ndis.gov.au/about-us/publications/quarterly-reports.

For further information about Human Services Dashboard statistics, please email ctecc@communities.tas.gov.au. We would also welcome your feedback and thoughts on how we might improve the content and presentation of these pages.

About the measure: Notification in this measure is a counting unit of reports of suspected acts or risks of child abuse, neglect or harm (event) such that one notification is one unique event for one unique child. Notifications are referred following an initial assessment. This measure only counts those notifications which are initially assessed as requiring an investigation. Notifications are recorded for the month in which they are received, not the month in which they are referred. Some referrals are made in months subsequent to the month when the notification was received. Published figures are revised to account for this.

About the data: Data may vary from that previously published due to data reporting practices.

About the measure: This indicator measures the number of children who were placed in overnight care away from their usual home. The figures for children in Out of Home Care include children on third party guardianship orders. Out-of-home care only includes placements for which the State made or offered a financial payment, in accordance with the national definition (see page 45 of Child protection Australia 2013-14). However, it excludes children not under care and protection orders in the Supported Extended Family Program or whose carers receive the Relatives Allowance.

About the data: Data may vary from that previously published due to data reporting practices.
