New resource: Exercise for Older Adults

For people aged 65 and over, physical activity becomes important in maintaining energy levels, increasing joint movement, preventing or managing mental health problems and improving mood and memory function.

The eBook has been compiled by Accredited Exercise Physiologists and researchers. It will be useful to staff and volunteers supporting older people and can also be provided directly to older people.

Topics covered include brain health, Parkinson’s disease, common cancers, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis and persistent pain. It includes information on how to exercise to prevent falls, how exercise can prevent loneliness and the importance of strength training.
