Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry)

The Office of the Chief Nurse and Midwife is pleased to advise that midwifery education will be provided by the University of Southern Queensland (USQ).

USQ provide the Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) for Registered Nurses.

Entry Requirements

  • Current registration as a nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Have a Bachelor Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Additional requirements as specified by USQ (please refer to USQ website)
  • English language requirements - minimum of IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

The BMid is a flexible program offered via a supported external delivery mode. The two year full-time USQ Bachelor of Midwifery Program involves:

  • full-time study over 4 semesters (16 subjects)
  • external on-line study mode
  • local Tasmanian clinical placements
  • local Tasmanian residential schools at the beginning of semesters 1, 2 & 3 (3 days each semester)

Residential Schools

Students studying the Bachelor of Midwifery (Graduate Entry) will be required to attend all three residential schools, which are held in Tasmania, to complete your studies.
