About the project
The Department of Health, Tasmania is developing the next Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy on behalf of the Tasmanian Government. The strategy, which will be the third of its kind, will set the vision and priorities for preventing suicide in our State for the next five years.
While we are learning more about suicide in Tasmania and making important progress, it remains an issue in our State and the impact is profound. Each life lost to suicide is a tragedy felt deeply by individuals, families, friends, and communities.
The third strategy will align with the national policy agenda and our broader work under Rethink 2020, Tasmania’s strategic mental health plan, while being guided by the lived experience and professional expertise of the Tasmanian community.
There will be a range of opportunities to contribute your views to this project throughout the year. Contact mhadd@health.tas.gov.au to join the project mailing list.
Project updates and milestones
The Tasmanian Suicide Prevention Strategy Community Survey was launched on 17 June 2022 to learn more about the views and experiences of the Tasmanian community. The survey provides an opportunity for all people living in Tasmania to have a say and help shape a five-year vision for preventing suicide in our State.
